How We Can Help
Our solicitors provide full support throughout the registration process for stateless adults, including:
Confirming your eligibility
We will assess your individual circumstances to confirm whether you can register as a British citizen under Schedule 2 of the British Nationality Act 1981 or other relevant provisions.
Gathering the right evidence
We help you collect documents that prove your statelessness and residence, including embassy letters, birth certificates, residence records, and proof of identity.
Preparing your application
We complete and check your Form S3 or other relevant form, making sure all sections are accurate, up to date, and supported by evidence.
Managing Home Office communication
We handle all correspondence and ensure the Home Office has what it needs to process your case efficiently.
Our aim is to make a complex process straightforward, protect your position, and increase the chance of a positive outcome.
You may be eligible to register as a British citizen if you:
- Were born in the UK and have never held any nationality
- Have lived in the UK continuously for at least five years
- Are under 22 years old at the time of application
- Can prove that no country recognises you as its citizen
- Are of good character if aged 10 or over
If you were not born in the UK, you may first need to apply for leave to remain as a stateless person before registration becomes possible.
Every application must be supported by clear proof. This may include:
- Your full birth certificate
- Any passports you have ever held, even if expired
- Official confirmation from embassies that you are not entitled to their nationality
- Proof of residence in the UK for at least five years
- Parental documents showing their nationality or immigration status
- Police certificates of good conduct if you are aged 10 or above
Documents that are not in English must be translated by a certified translator.

Since February 2025, the Home Office applies stricter good character checks to all registration applications. Anyone who entered the UK illegally or provided false information in the past may normally be refused unless they were a child or a victim of trafficking.
Our solicitors can advise you before submission to ensure your case is presented in the best possible way.
As of December 2025, the Home Office fee for adult registration under Form S3 is £1,351, plus a £130 citizenship ceremony fee.
Most applications are decided within around six months, though complex cases can take longer.
